Daily payment limits in the Barclays app

The amount of money you can pay someone each day (either a person or a business) is different, depending on whether you’ve paid them before or if it’s the first time. There isn’t a difference if you send money in Online Banking.

Daily limit for new payees

When you pay someone for the first time, there’s a total daily limit of:

  • £2,000 from personal accounts
  • £100,000 from Premier accounts
  • £7,500 from business accounts.

Once you’ve made the first payment, they’ll become an existing payee.

If you have a BarclayPlus account, you’ll need to visit one of our branches to add a new payee.

Daily limit for existing payees

When you send money to someone you’ve paid before, there’s a total daily limit of:

  • £10,000 from personal accounts
  • £100,000 from Premier accounts (no more than £25,000 per transaction for international payments)
  • £50,000 from business accounts (no more than £25,000 per transaction for international payments)
  • £50 from a BarclayPlus account with a cash card
  • £300 from a BarclayPlus account with a debit card.

What’s included in a daily payment limit

As well as immediate transfers, your daily limit also includes any bill payments, future-dated payments, standing orders and international payments that you set up on that day – even if they won’t leave your account until a later date.

The total amount of money you send in a day can’t be more than your daily limit for existing payees.

Direct Debits aren’t included in your total daily limit.

International payments

Bigger international transactions will often have a better exchange rate than smaller ones. This means you might end up paying more if you send your payment over multiple transactions, even if each payment stays within the daily limit. You can try to avoid this by using Online Banking for payments over the app limit, or by visiting a branch if they’re over the Online Banking limit.
